SPORT CENTER 'ENRIQUE BLAS ECHEVARRÍA'
Competition Accesit for a renovation & extension of the existing facilities in the Sport Center 'Enrique Blas Echevarría'.2017. Collado Villalba. Madrid.
The proposal tries to use a large part of the existing building while providing a new architectural image that generates enough expectation to become not only a place to practice sport but also a place for gathering and developing events.
The proposal emphasizes the activation of public spaces around the two "boxes" or "containers" where the sports courts are located. Taking advantage of the sloped site, two new public spaces are proposed, located at different levels: the first is at the level of Feria Street and is the result of visually opening the existing sports fields to the street.
This public space represents the main entrance to the building and has a dynamic character since through it flows the connections between the building, the parking and other surrounding sports facilities.
It is also proposed a second public space at the level + 4m with a more leisure character and with a great panoramic view of the mountains, from where there is the possibility of accessing the bleachers to both pavilions.
In addition, from this space, there would be a visual access to the gym in double height while at the same time contemplating the adjacent facilities helping to a better understanding of the sports infrastructure.
